Today’s camera market is vast and extensive.  They range from point and shoot to phone and of course entry level and professional. Everyone these days can take photos and virtually all have a camera in their pocket thanks to phone technology.  Yet did you realise they all have one thing in common?  They cannot tell you where to stand and when to click the button.  These two extremely important steps to producing a photograph is still left for us humans to decide. For the last eighteen months due to the rental market we opted for the alternative lifestyle of living. Together my teenage daughter and I decided to have space of our own in a caravan rather than share space in a house.  We affectionately nicknamed the seventeen-foot 1970s Anglo Caravan “The Tin Can”.  It was our base and we filled it with many special memories that will last a lifetime just between us.  Here though I’m going to focus on how personally this alternative living style brought me closer to nature and improved my photography. Those not familiar with New Zealand,  we are one of the first in the World to Welcome in the New Year and the New Decade. Here in Wellington, the Capital,  it is a somewhat enjoyable experience to get to the CBD early and watch the set up, hear the band warming up while you sus out the food trucks and decide what you're going to pick for your dinner and then find your preferred viewing spot for the night, lay down the rug and one of your party stays put while the others go claim the feast.  Or some would have brought it with them already.   Wellington provides a setting that To View More >>

The footage in the above video was created by my son and I on a smart phone when I was working in real estate.  I'm going to get myself in trouble here with some fellow Videographers ... If you're like me you'll have some sort of streak of car madness running through your veins right to the core of you where even the slightest sound of a grunty motor will grab your attention away from what you're doing.  You'll stand for a long time, frozen to the spot, while you gaze longingly at the smooth lines of design topped off with a quality paint work.  Then you'll slowly walk up to the bonnet and see the heavenly glow of a polished engine shining right back at you. Even the interior will have to withstand the admirational glaze.  Not a single part of the vehicle in front To View More >>

Sometimes in life you have that one person come along that changes the direction of your whole life.  They are a pure gift and you know it at the time but what you don't know is how much they impacted your life until they are gone and you're left with this huge gapping hole.  Yet the course they set you on is one that you will never regret. This is the very thing that has me sitting here typing and sharing my photography world and love of what's around me with you today.  It all started when I decided to hang up my real estate hat and do something else.  I was in the process To View More >>
