The history of Burnouts themselves originates from Drag Racing.  Drag racing slicks perform better at higher temperatures, thus making a burnout the quickest way to raise tyre temperature prior to a race.  It also cleans the tyre and lays down a layer of rubber by the starting line for better traction.  Some drag racetracks use a “wet box”. – A specially reserved wet surface area where water is poured to reduce the friction and initiate the burnout. The “wet box” was once called a “bleach box” when bleach was used instead of water.  To View More >>

If you haven't had the chance to stand next to a powerful car doing a burnout where you not only can see the action but also feel it, smell it and be engulfed in the smoke of burning rubber then its time you did.   I fell back in love with this sport almost a year ago when a room mate of mine took us to Rotarty Reunion in Taupo.  It was raining and the burnout pad was wet but it was still good enough for them to do a few skids.  I was elated with the feeling of a rotary engine backfiring as it felt like I was being shot right through.    Since this moment of Love  at To View More >>

Who is behind this? One Voice Many Lives is the heartfelt photographic project of photographer, Jo Marshall herself. Joanne and her 13 year old daughter are working together to make this happen.  Why? After working many years alongside youth and listening to them as well as studying youth and identity while gaining her BA in Media Arts.  Joanne has always been able to connect with them in a way that they appreciate.   She has seen them struggle within themselves to be seen and heard and find their place in the adult world.  Now her daughter is facing a different To View More >>

I was asked to help out a brother in need when it came to Cameron's 21st Birthday Celebrations.  You see one brother lived in Masterton and the other in Wellington City.  The one in Masterton decided to take it upon himself to suprise his older brother with a 21st birthday get-together in the city centre.  My task was to assist by filling in time taking photos on location around Wellington while everyone was gathering at the venue. Mission accepted.   I travelled down from Tauranga and thinking it wouldn't be safe to have helium balloons bouncing around in the back of the car, To View More >>

The footage in the above video was created by my son and I on a smart phone when I was working in real estate.  I'm going to get myself in trouble here with some fellow Videographers ... It can be done if you know some basics.   How did we do it?   Well, to be honest with you, it's all about the light... Okay, I know this is common knowlege to most but the secret to capturing great images isn't just about what's in front of you. It's the light interacting with your choosen subject because photography simply put is painting with light. When it comes to mobile photography or smart To View More >>

Its always special when you are asked by someone you've known for sometime if you can assist to record an important event in their life. Taylor is one of these people.  Years ago when I was stuck for a carer for my own daughter becasue living in rural Waikato and communitng between city and the town where my daughter attended school was simply impossible to get to her and take her to swimming lessons.  Taylor was my saviour and would do just this.  She would collect my girl from school, take her to swimming lessons and then on to her home where I would meet and pick her up for the To View More >>

If you're like me you'll have some sort of streak of car madness running through your veins right to the core of you where even the slightest sound of a grunty motor will grab your attention away from what you're doing.  You'll stand for a long time, frozen to the spot, while you gaze longingly at the smooth lines of design topped off with a quality paint work.  Then you'll slowly walk up to the bonnet and see the heavenly glow of a polished engine shining right back at you. Even the interior will have to withstand the admirational glaze.  Not a single part of the vehicle in front To View More >>

My reigintion to the slideline of motorsports with my camera started when I took a mate to see last years Rotary ReUnion at the Bruce McLaren Motorpark in Taupo New Zealand.  He was Rotary mad.  It was amazing to see 320 rotary cars all together.  The biggest turnout to date.  While there I watched some of the New Zealand Burnout Champs hit the pit in the rain.  I was immediately propelled back to my teen years in Wellington going with friends to watch the drags in Porirua and enjoying the lunchtime escapes from the college grounds to slide a few skids and more at To View More >>
