FROM WHERE WE STAND

Have a date with me by pausing for 10–15 minutes to read about places I visit and people I meet and maybe it might give you the break you need from your busy life to just sit back and breathe a while.

Check out our blogs below.

Joanne Marshall is a Landscape and Automotive Photographer from New Zealand. She is a Deaf artist, holds a BA in Media Arts (Visual Arts). For the last 10 years I have been living with a mystery condition to which specialists haven't yet worked out. Some days I wake up in such pain that I cannot walk and should be laid up but I’ve never been one to be told what not to do … Instead I push those boundaries and keep working to show that the world we are a part of is full of wonder, mystery and richness that tells us so many stories if we only take a few moments to pause and appreciate it. It can be the scenery before us or the finer details within such as colours and textures.

I was asked to help out a brother in need when it came to Cameron's 21st Birthday Celebrations.  You see one brother lived in Masterton and the other in Wellington City.  The one in Masterton decided to take it upon himself to suprise his older brother with a 21st birthday get-together in the city centre.  My task was to assist by filling in time taking photos on location around Wellington while everyone was gathering at the venue. Mission accepted.   I travelled down from Tauranga and thinking it wouldn't be safe to have helium balloons bouncing around in the back of the car, To View More >>

Hannah is another special person who I've had the pleasure of working with years ago while looking into the youth culture of Matamata.  I was lucky enough to capture her teaching some youths BMX riding over some jumps that the local kids had spent many hours creating on an empty plot.   When Hannah spied the photos we had done for Taylor's 21st celebration, she approached us and asked us to work with her once more. The home was the choosen venue and we set ourselves up in the lounge area while the dancing and action happened outside.  Hannah had got some props and together To View More >>

It was a beautiful fine day and one not to be spent inside.  So off i drove to see what natural wonders I could discover down Papamoa Beach way.   Not having really had the chance to wander along the beach I decided to park up at the Harrisons Cut carpark and stroll with just myself, tripod and camera. Harrisons Cut itself is a freedom camping location for self-contained motorhomes overlooking Papamoa Beach. However since its only a small parking area and no more than two vans at a time can park overnight, you are limited to a maximum of two nights per calendar month. The first thing To View More >>

The footage in the above video was created by my son and I on a smart phone when I was working in real estate.  I'm going to get myself in trouble here with some fellow Videographers ... It can be done if you know some basics.   How did we do it?   Well, to be honest with you, it's all about the light... Okay, I know this is common knowlege to most but the secret to capturing great images isn't just about what's in front of you. It's the light interacting with your choosen subject because photography simply put is painting with light. When it comes to mobile photography or smart To View More >>

Its always special when you are asked by someone you've known for sometime if you can assist to record an important event in their life. Taylor is one of these people.  Years ago when I was stuck for a carer for my own daughter becasue living in rural Waikato and communitng between city and the town where my daughter attended school was simply impossible to get to her and take her to swimming lessons.  Taylor was my saviour and would do just this.  She would collect my girl from school, take her to swimming lessons and then on to her home where I would meet and pick her up for the To View More >>

If you're like me you'll have some sort of streak of car madness running through your veins right to the core of you where even the slightest sound of a grunty motor will grab your attention away from what you're doing.  You'll stand for a long time, frozen to the spot, while you gaze longingly at the smooth lines of design topped off with a quality paint work.  Then you'll slowly walk up to the bonnet and see the heavenly glow of a polished engine shining right back at you. Even the interior will have to withstand the admirational glaze.  Not a single part of the vehicle in front To View More >>

My reigintion to the slideline of motorsports with my camera started when I took a mate to see last years Rotary ReUnion at the Bruce McLaren Motorpark in Taupo New Zealand.  He was Rotary mad.  It was amazing to see 320 rotary cars all together.  The biggest turnout to date.  While there I watched some of the New Zealand Burnout Champs hit the pit in the rain.  I was immediately propelled back to my teen years in Wellington going with friends to watch the drags in Porirua and enjoying the lunchtime escapes from the college grounds to slide a few skids and more at To View More >>

Recently we advertised for anyone wishing to capture the true essense of how a friendship of a young child and thier pet can be such a pleasure to watch.   Kristal Fowler approached us in regards to her wee man and their dog.   We decided on meeting up at the beach in Mount Maunganui at mid to late afternoon.  Having never met them before is the fun part of doing child photography.  In one hour we as a photography service need to engage the child from the start and build a rapport then invite them to assist us to create images which both themselves and their parents will To View More >>

Sometimes in life you have that one person come along that changes the direction of your whole life.  They are a pure gift and you know it at the time but what you don't know is how much they impacted your life until they are gone and you're left with this huge gapping hole.  Yet the course they set you on is one that you will never regret. This is the very thing that has me sitting here typing and sharing my photography world and love of what's around me with you today.  It all started when I decided to hang up my real estate hat and do something else.  I was in the process To View More >>
